Record submissions

(See below for Batch Records) When submitting records please follow the guidance notes and the guidelines for bird records which includes a detailed species list. Records do not appear on the website until they are approved by a moderator and for space reasons it is not possible to publish every record on the website. These unpublished records are still vital for the production of a comprehensive annual report and are retained in the bird club's database.

Currently records of recent sightings appear on the home page for four days and are then moved to the sightings archive page. This time period can be changed very easily and it will change to match the number of records arriving which varies on a seasonal basis. The list of species to be published on the website will also be revised on a seasonal basis.

Batch records

Where you have a batch of records to submit (e.g. covering a period of months, an annual submission, or breeding summary), we have a downloadable Excel record submission form for you to use to pass those records to the Bird Recorder. This is the preferred format for submission of a large volume of records and will enable swift transfer of your records to the Club’s main database. This helps to keep the recording and annual report process up to date. Please read these notes on how to use the records entry spread sheet.
