WELCOME

Winter is now with us and the 2002 recording trip programme is done and dusted. Although there are still lots of micros to identify from some of these outings, most of the lists for the sites we visited are complete. Reports of the trips are given below. As soon as I can find the time to enter the information onto the database I will be able to post the complete site lists on the web site (paper copies will also be available for those of you who are still steam-driven).

The web site is, of course, up and running again. We lost our original site, created by Rob Souter, when the company Netscapeonline collapsed in Britain; our site was on the Netscape server but we received no warning that it would be lost. Anyway, thanks to the stalwart efforts of Garry Neesam, a new web site was created for the group. It is hosted by the Herts Natural History Society's web site, but I have been able to renew the familiar web address of www.hertsmothgroup.org.uk at a cost of £15 for two years! My thanks to Rob for the original site, Garry for the new one and to the Herts Natural History Society for providing the necessary web space.

2003 PROGRAMME

The programme of recording trips for 2003 is included with this newsletter. If you have never been on one of our trips we do hope that you will be able to join us this year. We have a few rules. First, those attending must enjoy themselves! Second, I get the red cup because I supply to coffee. Apart from that, it is just a case of looking at, learning about and recording the moths. We welcome everyone, and you do not have to live in the county to attend. Feel free to bring guests (children must be supervised - remember hat we have live, mains-rated electricity cables running all over the place to power the lights). If you are reading this over someone's shoulder on the train, you too are welcome to come along. No dogs please (for the same reasons of safety). All trips are in the vice county of Hertfordshire (VC 20). I regret that until we have completed work for the book I am just not able to organise field trips in Middlesex. However, if the Middlesex members wish to arrange trips themselves in that vice-county area I will be very happy to add these to the programme and advertise them on the web site.
