22ND APR: Rusling End nr Langley, 45 Fallow Deer, Large herd grazing in Rusling End Meadow and surrounding arable field (julie wise)

16TH APR: Amwell GP/NR (exact water not specified), Stoat (Simon Knott)

15TH APR: Amwell GP/NR (exact water not specified), Weasel (Simon Knott)

13TH APR: Hilfield Park Reservoir, 4 Muntjac Deer, Two were rutting - watched for a minute or so just to SE of reservoir in head to head combat! (Tony Blake)
Stevenage, Large Red Damselfly, First damselfly to emerge from my garden pond this year (Steven Lane)

12TH APR: Stevenage, Hedgehog, Road kill North Road, Old Town (Clive Brackenbury)

10TH APR: Stanstead Abbotts, Hedgehog, in my garden, first sighting this year (Jane Free)
Vanstones Park nr Codicote, 13 Fallow Deer, We were driving from Codicote to Hitchin when the first group of deer leapt the ditch on the right hand side of the road. The group crossed the road and continued to the opposite field. They then disappeared into the woods. A second group followed.

9TH APR: Tewinbury Reserve, Water Vole, 12.30pm Swimming back and forth at the south of the reserve (viewed from the top storey of the hide). (Jenny Sherwen)

6TH APR: Apsley, American Mink, Seen at 5.15pm ran along the riverbank between the lake and river on twowaters. Was a beautiful dark brown/almost black in colour with long bushy tail. Did not see any white on it so possibly a mink and not a polecat. (r. cheshire)

3RD APR: Rye Meads nr Hoddesdon, Water Vole, Feeding, preening and swimming in the moat of Rye House gatehouse. (Martin Ketcher/Cath Patrick)

2ND APR: Rickmansworth, Hedgehog, Moor Lane, end of my garden (Anna Marett)

1ST APR: Tewinbury Reserve, 2 Water Vole, Swimming back and forth across the left hand channel when looking out from the hide. (Tim Hill)



Record submissions

The archive shows all records of Mammals, Reptiles, Amphibians and Dragonflies submitted through the website since the system wnet live in March 2010.
All records submitted will be transferred to the HNHS records database, published as appropriate in our Journal, The Hertfordshire Naturalist, and used as a resourse for monitoring the changes to the county's wildlife.
