HNHS Autumn Meeting Saturday 24 October

HNHS Autumn Meeting and AGM – featuring freshwater fish and wild flowers

Saturday 24 October 2009, from 2pm to 5pm

Two illustrated talks:

 Flora of Hertfordshire by Trevor James, well known local naturalist and wild flower expert is also the county recorder for plants. Trevor will be celebrating wild flowers and other plants of Hertfordshire and the imminent publication of his new book.

Presentation of the HNHS 1875 Awards

The award winners this year are:

June Crew – in recognition of her outstanding contribution to natural history in Hertfordshire.

The late John Fielding – an outstanding Hertfordshire naturalist Seen here in his later years botanising on Patmore Heath. Sadly John died on 19 September, his daughter Pat Saltmarsh will attend to accept the award on behalf of her late father.

Review of the year by our chairman Peter Delaloye. We are all grateful to Peter who will be stepping down after two and a half years as Chair of the HNHS Management Committee.

We have an exciting new venue for the Autumn Meeting this year, the Atlee Room at Haileybury College in Hertford Heath. Use the entrance in Hailey Lane; see below for full directions and map. We are very pleased to renew our long association Haileybury College.

Entrance £3, includes refreshments, pay at the door, children free but must be with an adult.

Everyone (including non-members) is very welcome to our annual get together.

How to find Haileybury College

Haileybury location map Haileybury is between Hertford and Hoddesdon on the B1197 London Road, just south of Hertford Heath. Enter via the White Gate entrance in Hailey Lane (62 on the right on the map) (Do not use the main entrance) drive up to the building, with the domed tower. There is plenty of parking along the terrace, close to the building.

The HNHS Autumn meeting will be held in the Attlee Room (15 on the map), which is to the right of the central columns and the main dome of the Chapel (see photo). There is level access to both the meeting room and toilets.
