Welcome to the website of the
Herts Flora Group

Herts Flora Group operates under the auspices of the Hertfordshire Natural History Society. It is an informal group and open to anyone who has a special interest in the wild plants of the County. There is no specific membership fee (although we encourage those who join to become members of HNHS, as well as the Botanical Society of the British Isles).

Our native wild daffodils welcoming spring at Stocking Springs, HMWT nature reserve at Ayot St Lawrence photographed on 31 March 2011. For great photos of many more spring flowers and where to see them visit the Flora Photo Gallery

The Flora Group has run a range of field meetings to study the County’s flora since the early 1990s, and members of the group carried out much of the field work for the recently published Flora of Hertfordshire. We also participate in national surveys, such as those to record for the New Atlas of the British and Irish Flora and the BSBI’s monitoring work.

See the Activities page for our programme of field meetings for the summer.

An annual (or more frequent) newsletter is circulated to members, free of charge.
