We regret that two HNHS events schedule for November – the 2020 Autumn Meeting and the Gerald Salisbury Memorial Lecture – have both been cancelled because of the continuing Covid-19 emergency,

Plans are being made for the Society's Annual General Meeting, normally held as part of the Autumn Meeting, to take place online using internet conferencing. This will include an announcement about this year's 1875 Awards for an outstanding Hertfordshire Naturalist and an outstanding contribution to natural history in the county. To increase the attraction, it is also hoped to include an online natural history presentation.

The date, time and other details for the meeting will be circulated as soon as possible with an agenda and copies of the Society’s accounts for 2019-20. To reduce the costs of notification, the AGM calling notice and accounts will be sent electronically to all members who have given us their email addresses. Others will be sent their papers by post, including details of how to vote by proxy on the accounts, committee nominations and any other resolutions, assuming they are unable to take part online.

Welwyn Natural History Society, who are joint organisers of the Gerald Salisbury Memorial Lecture, are, meanwhile, planning a programme of online speaker meetings open to the public. HNHS will publicise details when they are available.
