Richard Ball - a great supporter of wildlife conservation in Hertfordshire
The Hertfordshire wildlife conservation community was shocked to learn of the death of Richard Ball on 28 April, aged 74. He had been unwell for some time and was taken into intensive care on 12 April.

Those of you who attended the HNHS Autumn meeting heard Charlie (Charlotte) Bell from HMWT talk about the Living Rivers Project. Now an impressive new website has been launched to explain the new catchment management plans for two of our precious Hertfordshire chalk streams. The plan is lead by Charlie and Tim Hill of Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust on behalf of other partners.

Our Green Sandpipers on prime time TV as Countryfile comes from Lemsford Springs NR
This Sunday, 13 January, at 7.00pm, the BBC 1 programme ?Countryfile? will feature Lemsford Springs Nature Reserve.
Countryfile presenter, Julia Bradbury, visited the reserve in December to film the programme and - to quote from Radio Times - 'finds out how a super food is providing the perfect habitat for shrimp and glimpses one of our rarest birds feasting on them.'
